Performance Assessment is the process that allows Gary to isolate and evaluate each factor of your game so that the resulting data may be used to highlight specific problems. Armed with this data he will be able to recommend appropriate development solutions. This logical approach to improvement facilitates change efficiently and removes assumption.

An important first step in the development process is to gather information about your equipment, current scoring ability and objectives. This step allows Gary to prepare for your visit and maximise your assessment time during your appointment. To do this we recommend that you create a my-pro profile before your appointment and add a couple of scorecards.

At the start of the appointment in Cranleigh, your tee to green clubs will be sent to the Eclipse workshop where a variety of specs will be recorded to determine if they are correctly synchronised. Whilst this analysis is being completed, Gary will speak with you about the positives and negatives of your current on-course performance to further understand your game. Following the discussion, he will assess your putting technique, consistency of stroke, distance control and accuracy. He will also talk to you about your putter model, specs and feel preferences.

Once your club specs have been recorded, you will then be asked to hit a few shots with each club in the Eclipse Golf Trackman simulation bay. As you work through each tee to green club in your bag, your pitching and total distances will be recorded and assessed to determine distance separation (gapping). Additionally, Gary will assess your swing for each club to determine consistency of technique through the bag.

At the conclusion of the appointment, Gary will briefly explain his observations. All results and recommendations will be added to your my-pro profile within 48 hours. 

Recording and evaluating this important information helps Gary identify specific problems so that he may offer a road map of appropriate development solutions. It will also help you better understand what governs your performance, help you make informed decisions when implementing change and make your development an efficient, interesting and rewarding journey. 

Consistently good golf demands that we become proficient in a variety of different skill sets through the green. Typically, golfers are stronger in some areas compared to others. Identifying a weak skill set, and developing your ability to control the clubs associated with it, will dramatically improve your on-course navigation and boost your overall performance.

With this in mind, Gary offers tuition focussed on improving different skill sets through the bag. Naturally, as club lengths increase, our ability to control them becomes that much more difficult. Equally, with shorter scoring clubs, our need to improve accuracy and distance control increases. For this reason, emphasis is given to a step by step approach that allows for controlled improvement through the bag, over time.

As an enhancement to Gary’s service, he also videos your swing or stroke before each appointment. Each video is linked to your my-pro profile along with comments about what needs to be corrected. Visual learning is a proven and powerful technique that helps the retention of information and aids the implementation of change. You may then use this information as reference to support your post appointment practice. Practice is an integral part of swing & stroke development and without it you will be unable to implement change efficiently.

Gary’s Game Analysis service is a perfect way to learn as you play.
