Frequently Asked Questions
Will I benefit from a Club Fitting with Rhys at Eclipse Golf?
Yes. The primary reason being, peace of mind.
Modern golf equipment is expensive and includes complex features and combinations that all alter club dynamics and ball flight. Identifying the correct specification to match your physical attributes, technique and playing style through the bag is therefore a complicated process that warrants careful consideration.
Rhys's experience, knowledge and Performance Fitting™ methodology sets him apart, and allows him to go above and beyond the mainstream retail fitting experience to help you identify the most suitable club specs to complement your current and future performance requirements.
Do I have to be swinging consistently well for a Club Fitting?
No. Club fitting is as much about the bad shots as it is about the good shots.
Not being able to apply a consistently good technique is a natural dynamic of playing golf, even on tour. Having spoken and worked with many pro tour golfers, Rhys has noticed that the percentage of “A” swings per round is surprisingly low. Interestingly, because of this, these golfers all put great emphasis on ensuring that their clubs also match their “B” and “C” swings, to help minimise high scores.
Therefore, it is important for Rhys to observe your A, B and C techniques if he is to successfully identify the most beneficial specifications for you. In extreme cases, if he feels that tuition would be more beneficial for you than a club fitting, he will let you know.
It is unlikely that regular club golfers will require different shafts soon after a fitting, even as their swing improves. However, altering loft & lie specs and replacing grips would be expected. If Rhys thinks your progress is likely to be rapid, he will factor in club models which have appropriate adjustability to ensure that they keep up with your long term development.
For juniors, he generally recommends club specs based on current performance supported by annual assessments. This cost-effective approach allows him to monitor their game and make more informed decisions as they grow and develop.
Why does Rhys charge for Club Fitting?
Unlike mainstream retail services, Rhys's knowledge and impartial Performance Fitting™ methodology allows him to focus on identifying the most suitable club specifications for your game without being influenced by brand incentives, commissions, stock holdings and profit margins.
By removing the pressure to make club sales, this transparent approach removes all conflicts of interest and ensures that he recommends the most beneficial clubs to meet your immediate and future performance goals.
We also believe that Rhys's unique experience, combined with our facilities, broad catalogue of brands, loyalty programme and innovative online platform, represent an unparalleled standard that ensures an engaging and rewarding customer experience.
Do I get my appointment fee refunded if I purchase clubs?
No. Appointment fees are not refundable against club purchases.
As explained previously, our service is focused on ensuring that Rhys's detailed analysis provides you with performance based results without bias.
However, all clubs that are ordered through Eclipse Golf qualifies you for future discounts with our loyalty programme. Additionally, because 40% of ordered clubs with brands are delivered outside of our tolerances, we check all specifications before collection.
What equipment brands do you support for Club Fittings?
We are committed to helping you improve your performance. To do this, we invest in holding club components from the very best brands in the industry to support Rhys's club fitting service.
Tee to Green
Heads - Callaway, Cobra, Miura, Mizuno, Ping, PXG, Srixon, TaylorMade, Titleist and Cleveland (wedges only)
Shafts - In addition to the broad selection of shaft brands offered by our club manufacturers (Mitsubishi, Fujikura, UST Mamiya, True Temper, KBS & Nippon, Accra etc) we also carry all shafts from TPT Golf.
TPT Golf has experienced significant and rapid growth in the premium custom fitting shaft market since its inception in 2016. This growth has been driven by their patented and automated 'thin-ply' manufacturing technology that eliminates typical shaft issues like 'spines', resulting in very high consistency. This level of consistency has noticeably increased adoption on the professional tours where they have had over 70 tour wins to date. You may learn more about TPT Golf here.
Grips – Our club manufacturers all supply a broad selection of grip models from the leading grip manufacturers (Golf Pride, Lamkin, Winn & SuperStroke etc.)
Supporting Technology
All Club Fittings are supported by Trackman 4 Analysis and simulation.
How much do new, custom fitted clubs cost to purchase?
The price of custom fitted clubs depends on the combination of head, shaft and grip. All three components carry different prices depending on brand and model. Given that custom fitting is focused on identifying the correct combination to complement a golfer’s unique requirements, pricing naturally varies from customer to customer. However, we can provide the following guide to help clarify the cost of new, fitted clubs.
The club price range, for the brands we support, is as follows:
Drivers - £399 to £799
Fairway Woods - £249 to £599
Hybrids - £179 to £499
Iron Sets (8 irons) - £1,192 to £3,592
Individual Irons - £149 to £449
Specialty Wedges - £149 to £450
Using our sales history as a guide, the average price of custom fitted clubs with Eclipse Golf is as follows:
Driver - £529
Fairway Woods - £289
Hybrids - £269
Iron Sets (8 Irons) - £1,352
Individual Irons - £169
Specialty Wedges - £169
Whilst the majority of our customers purchase clubs following a fitting, be aware that we keep all fitting results on file, giving you the option to make your purchase at any time.
Our average club prices exclude Club Fitting appointment fees.
How long must I wait for my new golf clubs following a fitting?
Every effort is made to get new club orders to you in a timely fashion. However, lead times on all new orders are influenced by component availability at the brands we support.
If a brand has the correct components to match your order, delivery to Eclipse Golf typically takes 2-3 weeks, possibly sooner.
If a brand does not have the correct components to match your order, delivery to Eclipse Golf could take up to 8 weeks or more.
Whilst this dynamic may be frustrating, rest assured we are committed to communicating regularly with the brands on your behalf to ensure prompt delivery. We are also committed to providing you with updates prior to delivery.
Do you guarantee club purchases following a fitting?
Yes.
We ensure that all new club orders are built to an exact specification before collection. Two weeks after collection, we will contact you via email to see how you are progressing with your new equipment. Your feedback is important to us. In the unlikely event that you experience structural problems with your purchase within 60 days of collection, we will gladly resolve all issues.
What may I buy with my RRP Loyalty Discount followin a Club Fitting?
Our RRP Loyalty Discount Programme applies to all future ball and soft good purchases following a Club Fitting, in line with the brands we support.
When you have identified a product you would like to purchase from a brand's website, let us know and we will confirm the price before ordering.
To improve your loyalty discount, you must book the equivalent Club Fitting service.
May I have a Club Fitting if I am left handed?
Yes. However, Rhys takes a slightly different approach, by breaking one fitting appointment into two sessions.
He does this because we don't hold a comprehensive range of left handed clubs. During the first session Rhys analyses and collates relevant performance data to help him understand your game. We will then use this information to prepare appropriate clubs for you to test during your second session.
Rhys has learnt that in order to get the best outcome, this is the most efficient and accurate club fitting approach for our left handed customers.
Do I need to create a my-pro profile if I book a Club Fitting appointment?
No, but we recommend that you do.
Profiles on my-pro are designed to act as a personalised hub that centralises all your performance development activity in one convenient location.
We use it to share appointments results with you and believe that its interactive and educational features will help you learn more, and improve, your performance.
Having a my-pro profile helps us provide you with a tailored one-on-one experience, with personalised attention and guidance, to help you reach current and future performance objectives.
Is there sufficient parking at the Eclipse Golf studio?
